Why Choose Cloth Instead?
Environment
Disposables diapers have a very large environmental footprint due to the resources used to make them and transport them, in addition to the actual diapers being throw away. In the United States alone, 27.4 billion diapers make their way into our landfills a year. It's estimated that these diapers will take 500 YEARS to decompose. That's roughly 20 generations! Check out the infographic on the left for more information on disposable diaper waste.

That's not the only issue though. Poop isn't meant to go into landfills, it's supposed to be dumped into the toilet as it would with cloth diapers because it can leach into groundwater supplies. |
Money
Cloth diapers save MONEY. Not a just little bit of money either. Even a large stash of all high end diapers costs about half of what of what name brand disposables would cost. Lower and middle of the road diapers will cost you a fraction of what you'd otherwise spend on disposables. Use them for multiple children and the savings skyrockets exponentially. Compared to a single disposable costing around .25¢, a $10 diaper would pay for itself after 40 diaper changes. With a newborn that is a matter of days.

It's not just about saving money though. It's about not having to worry about money for diapers at all. Though money isn't the reason all parents choose cloth, it is a reason for many. Not worrying about how you're going to pay for diapers or if you're going to have to give up something else to afford them is liberating.
Cloth is Cool
Cloth diapers can be found in every solid color under the rainbow, bold patterns, and fun prints. You can even get fandom diapers like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Dr. Who. You can even buy diapers for a cause you support like Breastfeeding, Black Lives Matter, Intactivist, 2nd amendment, and cancer awareness diapers. There is the cute factor. If nothing else, cloth diapers are adorable and make even the cutest baby that much more "squishable."
